Increase delivery reliability at an interior design firm

The challenge
Our client, an investment fund in the field of turnarounds, invested in a poorly performing maker of luxury interiors. The company makes fantastic products in increasingly larger projects for all the major yacht builders in the Netherlands. Only the products were delivered late and the projects barely made a margin.
Our approach
Flowant conducted a root cause analysis. We created an improvement plan and implemented it together with the management and organization. The focus in the first 3 months was on stabilizing the delivery reliability of the engineering department to production. We did this by better planning and steering in daily and weekly starts. We then did this in the other departments. After a stabilization phase of 6 months, we made a long-term plan to prepare the organization for the future through digitalization, competence management and continuous improvement.
The result
Of the 3 projects under our hands, we were able to reduce or prevent overrun, allowing us to deliver on time and avoid high penalties. With the implemented planning and daily and weekly starts based on performance reports, they are able to control the project performance and continuously improve the process.
